Jamberoo Jabber 2017

Our in-school public speaking competition will take place in the week commencing Monday 31st July this year.

For those of you that are new, this is an annual competition that takes place in our school with EVERY child, from Kindergarten through to Year 6, preparing and presenting a speech to their class. From this in-class competition, 4-5 finalists are chosen to represent in the year group final, where they will present an impromptu speech (with topics given and a 5minute planning time). At the end of this competition we combine the 2 speaking scores to determine the seven students, one from each year group, who are the Jamberoo Jabber champions of 2017. These students present their prepared speeches at a special Education Week assembly on Friday 4th August, showcasing their talents.

The in-class speeches will take place in week 3, from Monday 31st July (adjudicated by classroom teachers).  The timing and topics for the prepared speeches are outlined below. I have also included the marking rubric the adjudicators use, to guide you with your speech.

Kindergarten and Year 1 are expected to speak for 1 minute (no longer than 2 minutes).

Year 2, 3 and Year 4 speak for 2 minutes (no longer than 3 minutes).

Year 5 and Year 6 speak for 3 minutes (no longer than 4 minutes).
