Gardening Club

Jamberoo Public School has a commitment to teaching about the environment and sustainability through our weekly Gardening Club, which meets every Thursday during lunchtime (weather permitting). Students come to the school's vegetable garden and help with seasonal tasks such as planting, weeding, watering, mulching and composting. Mrs McCormack leads Gardening Club, with the help of a number of committed parents and grandparents.

On Fridays at lunch time, students help with picking produce that is ready and selling it for a donation to community and family members at our Friday whole-school assembly. We also sell to any students who might be interested. We are also interested in selling produce and eggs in the school office, and hope to get this up and running.

We currently have many K-1-2 students helping in gardening club. They love to pick herbs, cherry tomatoes and anything else they can get, to take home with them on Thursday afternoons after gardening at lunch time.

Thank you to Mrs Janelle Newberry, who does many hours of volunteer work helping in the garden and Mr Greg Gray, who keeps an eye on, waters, fertilises and advises on, our fruit trees and passionfruits. We appreciate your time.

In 2018, our school has just won a grant from Kiama Council to add a sprinkler/misting system to our greenhouse so that we can grow more seedling and cuttings of herbs to sell in our community. Thank you Kiama Council!
